Welcome to the Middle Marches Lions Club website

Lion President Trish Morris receives the chain of office from outgoing President John Voller

What are the LIONS?

We organise events to collect funds for local charitable causes. We in the Middle Marches Lions are a local club and part of the world wide organisation, Lions Clubs International. We make light work of our efforts by including entertainment in our activities.

Who are the LIONS?

We are people who work together to help others. We come from the Middle Marches area, Church Stretton, Craven Arms, Bishops Castle, Ludlow and surrounding towns and villages. Some are retired, some working, and we welcome new members of all ages over 21.

What else do we do?

Lions Clubs International is recognized worldwide for its service to the blind and visually impaired. The well known 'white cane' was introduced by the Lions in 1925.

Middle Marches Lions support local worthy causes where help from other charities or government agencies is not available. We have donated funds to many causes, including:

Hope House Childrens Hospice
Macmillan Cancer Relief
Horse Riding sponsorship for a local disabled child
A holiday for an underprivileged schoolboy
The Multiple Sclerosis Society
The Local Community Centre
Wistanstow Village Hall
Lambeth Friendship Centre
Society For Rare Chromosome Disorder
Defibrillator for a local Medical Centre
Shropshire & Mid Wales Hospice
… to name a few

What about administration overheads?

Lions clubs do not use funds collected from the public to meet these costs. All such expenses are met by the members themselves.
